How we define ourselves in terms of gender identity and sexual orientation has never been more fluid and varied. Heterosexual, homosexual, bi-sexual, pan-sexual, heteroflexible, transsexual, transgendered, male, female, non-binary, gender queer, etc… all flavours and variations are possible. This can be tremendously liberating, or terribly confusing, depending on where you are coming from in your own experience. Here at Support Counselling, we are committed to helping you clarify your feelings, and find your place in the world of gender identity and sexual orientation. Because we have no agenda for you, it is a safe place to express your feelings and question your assumptions.

Some people come to a time in life where their own experience is very much at odds with the values and expectations of their family, church, and/or community. This can be deeply painful and frightening. Let us discuss with you what your sexual self-definition means in terms of how it intersects with the rest of your life.

Not only is the arena of self-definition wide open, so is the arena of self-expression, as we move through monogamous, monogamish, open, poly-amorous, and other forms of partnering.  The complex interplay of intra- and inter- personal dynamics in every form of relationship is rich with opportunities to learn.

Our sex-positive therapists will help you approach this topic without shame, preparing you to venture out into the world of sexuality with greater confidence, knowing how to be safe and smart, and bringing with you full knowledge of your own landscape.
